Idea Napkin No. 1

1) I have previous experience in being a leader, which helps me with planning events and meeting important deadlines. My aspirations in life is to start my own business, but I'm not really sure if I have a great idea or opportunity yet. If I were to go through with this business, I believe it will become a big part of my life as I help students enjoy their campus dining much more.

2) I am offering to students all over the country a better dining option. I want to take over current meal plans that schools have and offer better quality food to students who do not think they are getting their money's worth

3) I am offering this to students, mainly around the age of 18-23, and mainly who live on campus near dining halls. This will be offered to students who do not like the quality of the food that their current meal plan is giving them. If successful, my demographic could reach out to younger students who are in high school and want better food. Most of my customers will all have in common the hatred towards their current dining hall food.

4) The customers care because they would definitely appreciate better food if it was offered to them for the price they are paying. My customers will pay the same amount of money and get better quality food and healthier food if they request it.

5) I believe I have a lot of motivation towards my task at hand, and if I start something I want to be the best at it. Along with this, I know that most students are not very happy with their meal plan, so I have the backing of thousands of students who want change. Along with the backing of students here at UF, I will most likely gain support of students in different schools as well.

I believe that these points work very well together. The only thing I lack is experience in the food industry and connections to large farms to get cheaper food for better quality. Once I figure out a way to make better quality and a better variety of food for the price of the meal plan, then my idea will be very successful. With the backing of thousands of students begging for better food for the price they are paying, the opportunity is right in everyones face.

  1. Andrew, I appreciate your humbleness. It's also nice I drew this assignment because I was able to watch one of your interview sessions earlier. I would say the trends are pointed favorably for you. People are much more aware and doing more research about what they put into their bodies. I'm curious about why, even after this seemingly universal dissatisfaction with the current food, it hasn't improved. Is it simply because there's been no pressure to do otherwise? Because quality ingredients are too expensive? Lack of competition? Maybe we'll get to an assignment like soon! Best of luck to you. http://rustywinter.com/week-6-idea-napkin-no-1/

  2. I think that your idea is one that can benefit a lot of kids who want more options and are dissatisfied. Quality is becoming more and more of the path that people are following and paying extra for something that they know will be worth while. Diversity in food options is something that I think you should stress because many people are dissatisfied with the meal plan because it is so predictable. I think your idea is good you just have to find out how your'e going to do it. Check out my blog: http://markemiablogs.blogspot.com/2016/02/idea-napkin-no-1.html

  3. Hi Andrew,
I think your previous leadership experience will definitely come in handy. It will allow you to definitely bring something extra to the table that many others can't. A better dining option will definitely be appealing to so many people, and I think it's a grand opportunity that you have tapped into. Your target audience will be huge. So many people are unsatisfied with their dining experience. My target audience is also semi lazy or dissatisfied college student. I think there is such an interesting opportunity in how unsatisfied youth will do things most others wouldn't in order to be a bit more comfortable. 4. Hey Andrew! I think your idea is a great one that would significantly benefit a lot of people. Students all over have issues with food on their campuses not having good nutritional value or simply not tasting good. Being able to provide better quality food would be wonderful, however, like you said, you must find a way to do this while keeping costs low. This is where the true challenge lies. As you know, sadly, the higher quality the food, the higher the price. If you could solve this problem your idea would be on its way to success.
